Speech and Debate is one of the largest and longest standing clubs on campus. Students grades 7-12 develop critical thinking, public speaking, debating, researching, and writing skills. High schoolers get the chance to participate in weekly meetings building up to monthly local tournaments, and the team visits state and national tournaments throughout the year. Middle schoolers participate in biweekly meetings, with some opportunities to compete in state and national tournaments.
The team consistently outranks on all levels; they bring home not just awards, but memories. Every meeting or tournament is a chance to build lasting connections with peers, and foster personal growth that develops the next generation of leaders. Club members range from casual attendees wishing to learn new skills or hone existing ones, to dedicated speakers and debaters who shoot for gold. In other words, everybody is welcome no matter their skill level.
